WKU President Timothy Caboni announced today the start of the WKU Presidential Speaker Series, which begins with Robert Ballard, a well-known deep sea explorer.
Caboni announced the series through an email to all students, stating that the series is “a platform dedicated to bringing leaders, visionaries and innovators to campus to share their experiences and perspectives.”
The inaugural President Speaker Series event will take place on Oct. 10 at Van Meter Auditorium, where WKU will welcome Ballard. Ballard is an accomplished deep sea explorer, and is best known for his discovery of the Titanic wreck in 1985, Caboni said.
Ballard has also led discoveries of the German battleship, the Bismark, the aircraft carrier the USS Yorktown and John F. Kennedy’s PT-109, Caboni said.
“Through this series, we will cover a wide range of topics spanning multiple disciplines – generating thought-provoking dialogue, fostering curiosity, supporting intellectual growth and inspiring our Hilltopper community,” Caboni said.
