WKU Why Knot Us and the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority are holding a Winter Essentials Drive until Nov. 15.
The organization will be collecting winter clothing items such as coats, gloves, scarves, boots, hats, socks, toys and more.
“The purpose of the drive is to give Western students the opportunity to show love to a community of people who are often overlooked and degraded,” Jeanbosco Tuyisenge, community service chair of the Why Knot Us Black Male Initiative, said.
All donated items will be distributed in Nashville to the homeless population by members of each community on Nov. 25.
“We want them to know that although they are in a rough situation, their community has not forgotten about them,” Tuyisenge said.
For those interested in donating, donations will be accepted in the DSU lobby.
“We want them to connect a face to the gifts instead of another organization donating to the needy,” Tuyisenge said.
For more information, students can contact the Why Knot Us Black Male Initiative or follow them on Instagram.
