WKU Volleyball defeats MTSU in two weekend matchups

WKU Volleyball defeated Middle Tennessee State University in matches on Nov. 9-10 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Hilltoppers took down the Blue Raiders 3-0 in the first game and 3-1 in the second.

WKU holds a season record of 26-4 with a 21-game win streak.

Game 1

In game one, WKU swept MTSU in three sets.

As a team, WKU averaged a .443 hitting percentage and posted 88 total attempts. The Hilltoppers collected 46 kills. 

Fifth year outside hitter Paige Briggs put up 15 kills for the team. Redshirt sophomore setter Callie Bauer was also a team leader with 32 assists. Additionally, junior outside hitter Kaylee Cox collected nine digs.

Game 2

WKU defeated MTSU again on Saturday in four sets, losing their only set in the second.

Collectively, the Hilltoppers posted an average . 311 hitting percentage and 54 kills. WKU also acquired 121 total attempts compared to MTSU’s 133 total attempts.

Once again, Briggs led the team in kills with 17. Bauer was another big player for the team, putting up four aces and 41 assists. Furthermore, sophomore defensive specialist Abby Schaefer had 17 digs in the game.

WKU Volleyball will continue their season on Friday, Nov. 17 in Lynchburg, Virginia where they will face Jacksonville State University. The game will start at 10 a.m. CST.
