WKU Volleyball swept New Mexico State University 3-0, claiming the Conference USA Tournament Championship on Nov.19 in Lynchburg, Virginia. This is the team’s 17th C-USA Championship and eighth tournament title.
The Championship win made WKU 29-4 overall in the season with a 24-game win streak.
As a team, the Hilltoppers averaged a .258 hitting percentage with 124 total attemps. They also put up 44 kills.
Over the course of three sets, fifth year outside hitter Paige Briggs acquired 14 kills. Junior outside hitter Kaylee Cox was a star player for the Hilltoppers with 13 kills, 17 digs, four blocks and one ace.
Redshirt sophomore setter Callie Bauer posted 35 assists for WKU. Freshman outside and middle hitter Logan Grevengoed led the team in blocks with five. Additionally, senior defensive specialist Cameron Mosley had 3 aces in the matchup.
With the win, WKU also clinched their 16th trip to the NCAA Tournament in the program’s history. The Hilltoppers will learn what team they will face in the first round of the tournament on Nov. 26 during the NCAA Selection show on ESPN at 5p.m. CST.
