The University of Delaware is set to join Conference USA in the 2025-26 season, becoming the 11th member of the conference.
Delaware will be the sixth school to join the conference in a three-year span. Liberty, Jacksonville State, Sam Houston and New Mexico State all made their C-USA debut in 2023 while Kennesaw State will join the conference in 2024.
This move will promote Blue Hen Football from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision. In their time at the FCS level, Delaware took home one national championship in 2003 and produced 2013 Super Bowl MVP, Joe Flacco.
For Delaware basketball, the decision will move the Blue Hens from the Colonial Athletic Conference to the C-USA. Since 2000, Delaware’s men’s and women’s basketball have a combined six NCAA tournament appearances, including a sweet sixteen run for the Women’s program in 2012-13.Â
According to source Pete Thamel, the deal is set to become official in the coming days. Â
