A strong 44-point first half led WKU Men’s Basketball to an 82-65 win against the Buffalo Bulls on Saturday, at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, New York.
Junior guard Don McHenry led the Hilltoppers in scoring with 16 points, while redshirt senior guard Brandon Newman added 11 points and eight rebounds.
The team shot 44% from the field, however their three-point shooting woes continued as they only managed to make six out of 25 from behind the arc. WKU only shot 62% from the charity stripe on 29 attempts. The team had no scoring shortage, however, gathering 17 offensive boards allowing for many second chance opportunities.
WKU’s defense was the spotlight of the game holding a team under 70 points for the fourth time this season. They blocked four shots and had 13 steals, scoring 18 points off those takeaways. They held the Bulls to 5-34 from three and 36% shooting overall. Fifth year guard Jalen Jackson had three steals while junior guard Enoch Kalambay and Newman each had two. Senior forward Tyrone Marshall Jr. had three blocks.
The Hilltoppers will look to make it four in a row as they travel to Fairborn, Ohio to take on the Wright State Raiders at the Nutter Center on Dec. 12 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
