WKU Women’s Basketball defeated Abilene Christian University 72-68 on Dec. 18 in E.A. Diddle Arena to advance to 7-5 on the year.
“I’m thankful to get that monkey off our back from losing three in a row,” Head Coach Greg Collins said.
WKU trailed Abilene heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Lady Toppers had their strongest quarter in the fourth, putting up a field goal percentage of 60% and a total of 28 points to win the game.
Overall, WKU shot 42.6% from the field and 73.3% from the free throw line. Additionally, the Lady Toppers grabbed 37 rebounds, 15 assists and five blocks.
Senior guard Destiny Salary led the Lady Toppers in points with 20. To follow, sophomore guard Acacia Hayes put up 19 points.
Senior guard Aaliyah Pitts acquired six rebounds in the contest. Furthermore, junior guard Alexis Mead had five assists, five steals and four fouls.
WKU will participate in the Missouri State Classic Dec. 20 – 21 where they will first face the University of Nevada in Springfield, Missouri.
