The Mystic Arts Association is accepting entries for the Tales of Old Art Exhibition at the Kentucky Museum.
Entries can include any form of media and collaboration. Pieces should include personal interpretations or retelling of myths and folklore. Applications are due March 14 and accepted pieces need to be dropped off March 15 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis due to limited availability. Artists must be 18 years of age to apply. Artwork submitted must have been completed in the last four years and completely original. Because of the venue, no artwork containing extreme nudity, political or controversial nature is accepted, the event website stated.
Artwork can be opted to be sold if the artist chooses to, but a 10% commission will be deducted for the Mystics Arts Association. There will also be an exhibition fee for chosen pieces.
The event will be held from March 27 to April 20. The cost to enter is $15 for WKU students and staff, but $30 for outside individuals.
“Celebrate the Unusual,” the website stated. “The Mystics Arts Faire was born from the needs of unique and alternative local artists of South Central, Kentucky. This market creates a safe and inclusive space for everyone to participate and learn something new. Our goal is to bring people together of all different cultures and beliefs to celebrate their uniqueness through art.”
