Brady Browning (15) hits a home-run during Western Kentucky University’s games against University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee on Friday, March 8, 2024.

WKU Baseball was mercy ruled at Murray State on March 26 in a 15-2 contest.

The loss brings WKU’s record to 16-10 on the season. The Hilltoppers have lost three of their last four matchups.

The Racers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a three-run homer and never looked back, scoring in every inning they hit.

WKU cut the lead to 3-2 with a two-run homer in the second, but failed to produce any more offense in the contest.

Following a solo homer in the bottom of the second, MSU moved the lead to 8-2 in the third with two solo homers and two RBI singles in the inning.

The Racers added four more in the fourth, two more in the fifth, and one one more in the sixth en route to a seven inning mercy rule.

The Hilltoppers threw six pitchers in the game, all of which gave up at least one run. No pitcher lasted over one and two third innings for WKU.

Despite the loss, junior Zayd Brannigan recorded three hits and two RBIs against the Racers.

The Hilltoppers will travel to Jacksonville, Alabama this weekend to take on Jacksonville St. in a three game series March 28-30.
