WKU Softball fell to Lipscomb University 4-3 in an April 3 matchup at the WKU Softball Complex.
The Hilltoppers hold an overall record of 23-11-1 with a 9-3-0 conference record.
Both teams had an eventful third inning as Lipscomb posted all four of their runs in the top of the third
WKU responded with all three runs on one play. Fifth year infielder Taylor Sanders tripled and scored on a throwing error. Her play drove fifth year infielder TJ Webster and fifth year outfielder Brylee Hage home.
The Hilltoppers were unable to score again and ultimately picked up their 11th loss of the season.
Freshman pitcher Rylan Smith threw 2.2 innings and allowed four hits and four runs. She also pitched four strikeouts. Sophomore pitcher Maddy Wood spent three innings on the mound with four allowed hits and three strikeouts.
Additionally, fifth year pitcher Katie Gardner threw 1.1 innings. She allowed two hits and threw three strikeouts.
WKU will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to compete in a weekend series against Liberty University beginning on April 5 at 5p.m. CST.
