President Timothy Caboni announced a new installment of the Presidential Speaker Series Monday morning through emails sent to students, faculty and staff.
The Presidential Lecture Series, which began last year, brought marine geologist Robert Ballard to WKU. Caboni said he intends the series to provide thought-provoking engagement experiences for the campus community and beyond.
Caboni announced this year’s speaker as Lisa Genova, “an International and New York Times bestselling author and neuroscientist.”
“Dr. Genova’s keynote speech will explore the intricacies of our ability to remember, why we forget and what we can all do to protect our memories,” Caboni wrote.
Genova holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Harvard University and is the bestselling author of the novels “Left Neglected,” “Love Anthony,” “Inside the O’Briens,” “Every Note Played” and “Still Alice,” according to the email.
“Dr. Genova’s visit is an extraordinary opportunity for our students, faculty, staff and the broader community to hear from a leading voice in the field of neuroscience,” WKU Spokesperson Jace Lux said via email to the Herald. “Her narratives foster empathy and understanding – values that align with our commitment to promoting intellectual growth and belonging. Her work has touched millions of lives, and we are confident that her presence will inspire meaningful dialogue, learning and personal reflection across our campus community.”
Genova will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in Van Meter Auditorium.
