Bowling Green’s annual Pride Festival is taking place this Saturday, Oct. 26, at Circus Square Park.
Every October sees Bowling Green’s annual pride celebration. The event is free to everyone and hosts a variety of activities.
The main pride festival boasts food, drag, local vendors, live music and more from 12pm until 5pm. Then the pride crawl ensues, which sees afterparties at local establishments like Donna’s and Tidball’s. BG Fuzion, a drag entertainment spot, is the official drag after party of BG Pride.
A pre-party is taking place on Oct. 25 and will feature the Primadonna’s, a local drag group. Then on Saturday at noon begins the main event.
Bowling Green Pride, unlike many places, happens in October. This choice was made for many reasons, including wanting student involvement and following suit with towns like Georgetown and Frankfort, who hold pride parades in the fall.
Fairness is the organization that puts on the festival every year. Fairness executive director Chris Hartman said that the goal of pride is to “Celebrate the wonderful diversity in Bowling Green.”.
