WKU Volleyball continues their home-stand this weekend in a doubleheader against the 20-2 (10-0) UTEP Miners in a battle of Conference USA heavyweights.
WKU swept Louisiana Tech in both games last weekend and now look to take sole possession of first place in the conference. UTEP is coming off a sweep of Jacksonville State.
The Hilltoppers have a strong offense led by outside hitter Kaylee Cox with 284 kills on the season, set up by redshirt junior setter Callie Bauer with 872 assists, second in the NCAA.
WKU’s defense has been dominant all season, led by middle hitter Izzy Van De Wiele with 120 blocks on the season, also second in the NCAA.
UTEP’s offense is a team effort, with five players with over 100 kills. The defense is led by middle blocker Kaya Weaver with 105 blocks. If the Hilltoppers will get the win then they need to take note of setter Kalia Kohler, who has 392 assists on the season.
The Hilltoppers are 15-0 all-time against UTEP. These teams last met in the C-USA semifinals, with WKU taking the battle 3-2. The Hilltoppers are looking to continue their 13-game win streak.
The first match of the weekend is set to begin at 7 p.m.
