The WKU Symphony will be hosting their 10th annual Halloween Concert Friday Oct. 25 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Van Meter Hall.
The concert will include repertoire from Bernard Herrmann, Rodion Shchedrin and Gustav Mahler. The WKU Symphony will play three pieces, including Herrmann’s music from the movie “Psycho,” Shchedrin’s “Carmen Suite” excerpts and the first movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2.
Chloe Packard, sophomore music education major and trumpet player, said that the WKU Symphony had been working on the Halloween Concert since their last performance, “Symphony Classics,” on Sept. 20. Packard said she and the other trumpet players would only be playing Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 during the concert.
“I’ve been in a lot of concerts,” Packard said. “I’ve only been in one symphony concert and that was the last one.”
Packard said the show should be fun. She said that Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 was the best piece in her opinion.
The Halloween Concert will be conducted by Brian St. John, music professor and director of orchestras at WKU. Tickets for the Halloween Concert are $12 each and can be bought here.
