WKU Volleyball Outside Hitter Kaylee Cox was drafted to the Pro Volleyball Federation Monday, becoming the second Hilltopper in two seasons to get drafted.
Following Paige Briggs’ selection in the inaugural PVF draft last year, Cox was selected by the Columbus Fury with the 18th overall pick. This came after Cox led the Hilltoppers to a 25-6 regular season record where they stayed undefeated in conference play and won the Conference USA tournament.
“I’ve already had so many people reach out to me and I feel so welcomed already. I’m excited to finish out my season here at WKU knowing that my volleyball career is not over,” Cox said in a press release. “I am so thankful for my teammates and coaches here at WKU who have prepared me for a moment like this!”
Cox racked up many honors in just two years on the Hill after transferring from Missouri. Last season as a junior she was named C-USA First Team All-Conference, C-USA All-Tournament Team and C-USA Preseason All-Conference.
This season, with Briggs going pro, Cox stepped up. Cox was named C-USA Preseason Player of the Year. Cox led the Hilltoppers with 50 service aces and 454 kills, along with winning C-USA offensive player of the week on five occasions. All of these accomplishments led to Cox being named the 2024 Alyssa Cavanaugh C-USA Player of the Year and C-USA First Team. After WKU won the C-USA tournament, Cox was named the C-USA tournament MVP.
Before Cox turns pro, WKU will head to the NCAA tournament in search of a national championship. The Hilltoppers’ seeding will be announced Dec. 1.
