The WKU University Singers will attend the Kentucky Music Education Association (KMEA) conference on Friday, Feb. 7.
The University Singers is a mixed ensemble including soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts. It is open to all students, regardless of major, through an audition process, according to its website.
Sara-Kate Wiseman, senior public relations and music major who has been with the WKU choir program since her freshman year, emphasized the achievement performing at KMEA means for the program.
“Being chosen to perform at KMEA is a prestigious milestone for a collegiate choir, showcasing a remarkable level of musical excellence,” Wiseman said. “It is a testament to the talent, dedication, and effort of the University Singers and Dr. Whitham.”
The choir was chosen through a blind audition tape sent to KMEA by Lauren Whitham, associate director of choral activities and director of the University Singers, showcasing University Singers’ concerts from the 2023-24 school year.
The University Singers were last chosen in 2020 but could not attend due to COVID-19.
