WKU Men’s Basketball will look to end a three-game losing skid as they host Sam Houston State in a primetime matchup Thursday night.
Senior guard Don McHenry, the team’s leading scorer averaging 18 points per game, has scored at least 20 points in six of the Hilltopper’s last seven games. Despite this, the team is on a three-game losing streak with a 1-4 record in February.
In the team’s last game, an 87-77 loss to rival Middle Tennessee State, senior guard Khristian Lander finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, his sixth straight game scoring in double figures. Despite his efforts, the Blue Raiders held on to sweep the season series.
The Hilltoppers sit at 14-11 (5-7 CUSA), good for eighth in the conference, while Sam Houston holds a 10-16 (3-10) record and sits ninth.
Despite the Bearkat’s struggles, they ride a two-game winning streak against teams WKU has lost to – Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State. Guard Lamar Wilkerson is second in CUSA in points per game with 19.7. Wilkerson leads CUSA in free-throw percentage and three-point percentage.
WKU sits at 11-3 at home on the season and 3-2 in conference play, while SHSU is 0-7 on the road in league play.
With the snowy conditions, WKU Athletics is running a “Snow Day” ticket promo that gives $10 lower-level tickets and $5 upper-level tickets.
Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
