WKU Baseball will play the Central Michigan Chippewas in a four-game series this weekend at Nick Denes Field.
The Hilltoppers are coming off two-weekday games. On Monday WKU suffered its first loss of the season against Murray State. On Tuesday the Hilltoppers won an 11-3 game over Eastern Kentucky.
Seniors Carlos Vasquez and Ethan Lizama will look to continue their great 2025 seasons. The 1-2 combo at the top of the lineup has combined for 25 hits, 15 RBIs, 42 total bases and five stolen bases.
Another key part of the Hilltoppers success is junior Ryan Wideman. During the EKU game, Wideman got the first four-hit game of the season for a Hilltopper, going 4-5 with three RBIs, a home run and two stolen bases.
The Hilltopperโs pitching staff has allowed opponent hitters a .267 AVG, allowed 21 runs, 79 strikeouts and 21 walks in 67 innings.
Central Michigan of the Mid-American Conference has a 2-6 record. In their last series, the Chippewas lost three of four games against the San Francisco Dons. The Chippewas have allowed opponents 70 runs in their eight games and are still looking for their first series win.
โCentral Michigan brings an already well-traveled team this spring and they will be a great challenge for us with their total team offense,โ Head Coach Marc Rardin said. โWe just need to be where our feet are and play our game.โ
The series will open on Friday as a doubleheader, with game times 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The series will continue on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the series will close on Sunday at 1 p.m.
This is a schedule adjustment due to potential cold temperatures in Bowling Green according to a press release from WKU Athletics.
