The 11th annual Dance Big Red fundraiser will return to WKU Friday at 6 p.m. in the Preston Center, with hopes to raise more donations than ever before.
Dance Big Red (DBR) is a dance marathon that raises funds for Norton Children’s Hospital each year. It is the largest student-run nonprofit on campus, and this year, there isa goal to raise over $90,000 and reach 1,000 dancers.
Since its start, DBR has raised nearly $700,000 towards its cause.
Gracie Hurt, sophomore public relations and sports management major, is the event operations co-chair this year.
“When coming to WKU, I knew I wanted to be a part of what DBR was doing for the campus and doing for Norton Children’s Hospital,” Hurt said.
The event will include prizes, giveaways, games, dancing and stories from families who have been impacted by the care at Norton Children’s, Hurt said.
According to DBR’s Instagram, the “Dance Big, Dream Bigger” campaign is about coming together to fight for the futures of children at Norton Children’s Hospital.
Those interested in registering or donating to DBR can do so here. There is a registration fee of $20.
For those who plan to attend, it is recommended to bring their student ID, an empty water bottle, a small belt bag, color team swag and dance moves.
“Students should take the time to come to DBR to make a lasting impact on kiddos and families that need it most,” Hurt said. “You can expect a whole lot of fun and a whole lot of energy.”
