WKU Baseball fell at the No. 17 ranked University of Louisville 5-2 Tuesday night at Jim Patterson Stadium.
The Hilltoppers dropped to 31-6 overall and 9-6 on the road with the loss.
Offensively, WKU was limited to four hits, four walks and struck out five times. The Hilltoppers left eight runners on base, including a bases-loaded, no-out opportunity in the seventh inning where they failed to score.
On the mound, WKU allowed 10 hits but issued no walks and stranded seven Louisville runners. Senior Gavin Perry started and tossed four innings, allowing two runs on four hits while recording one strikeout.
WKU opened the scoring in the first inning off a solo home run hit by junior Joe Siervo.
UL responded in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI double hit by Robbie King Jr.
The Hilltoppers tied the game in the fourth inning off an RBI single by senior Kyle Hayes.
The Cardinals took the lead back in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Kamau Neighbors. UL extended its lead in the seventh inning off a two-run homer by Zion Rose.
WKU Baseball returns to Conference USA action in a three-game series against Middle Tennessee set for April 17-19.
