WKU Women’s Basketball kicks off its 2025-26 regular season Wednesday night against Kentucky State in Diddle Arena.
WKU unofficially began this season with an exhibition game Oct. 29 against Lindsey Wilson. The Lady Toppers defeated the Blue Raiders 52-41 despite committing 25 turnovers and scoring just 18 points in the first half.
Senior forward Zsofia Telegdy led the way for WKU last week, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Sophomore forward Torri James posted her first career start for the Lady Toppers in the exhibition game. She scored nine points, shooting 3-3 from the field and grabbing three boards in her 19 minutes played.
“I had fun,” James said in the post-game press conference. “It was one of my first games actually playing the minutes that I did.”
Wednesday’s game marks the beginning of Kentucky State’s 2025-26 campaign. The Thorobreds went 9-17 overall and 8-11 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference last season.
Kentucky State is without last season’s two leading scorers, guard Naja Fenelon and forward Khalia Bryant.
Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
