Starting your own business can be difficult, but not for Andrew Upton, a business owner and senior at WKU.
Upton, an entrepreneurship major, launched MAUI Headlight Restoration in April 2018.
“I’ve always wanted to start my own business and be my own boss, so I found something that was cost efficient and didn’t take too much time,” Upton said.
Upton, of Bowling Green, began restoring headlights and tinting tail lights as what he called “a side hustle” while in high school.
“I enjoyed earning money and I eventually found a systematic way of finding customers and restoring headlights, so I decided to make it a business,” Upton said.
Upton doesn’t have to go very far to find customers, especially since he attends a school where a lot of students commute.
Commuter student Jett Frost had nothing but positive things to say about Upton’s headlight restoration on his car.
“Andrew did a great job restoring my headlights and making them look brand new,” Frost said.
Frost said Upton has a flexible schedule at affordable prices.
Upton said his mission is to provide an affordable and quick way to restore your headlights back to looking brand new.
Upton has a Facebook page for his business that offers pictures of past customers and an option to request a quote.
The Facebook page also has videos of Upton’s restoration process and a phone number to get in contact with him.
Upton has seen his business grow since it was just a hobby of his, and he said he hopes to continue it after he graduates.
“It’s something that I can always do on the side because it doesn’t take up too much time or us many resources,” Upton said. “It’s also something that I enjoy doing, so I look forward to my business growing.”
