Bruce Schulte has accepted an appointment to the Office of Associate Vice President for Strategy, Performance and Accountability, a position housed within the Division of Strategy, Operation and Finance.
“This is a wonderful opportunity personally and professionally,” Schulte said. “I am very excited to learn more about how the university system helps achieve student success.”
Schulte also said he feels his new position will be “not only enjoyable but important.”
“We have to be efficient and make good decisions with our money,” Schulte said.
Susan Ingram Howarth, executive vice president for Strategy, Operations and Finance, said she is proud to have Schulte in the new position.
Howarth said Schulte will focus on a timely implementation of the Strategic Plan.
“He will also play a key role in ensuring our budget is linked to and follows our strategic plan,” Howarth said.
Schulte is scheduled to take the position on Aug. 15.
Schulte said his appointment to Associate Vice President comes after WKU President Timothy Caboni nominated him to the Strategic Planning Committee in 2017.
Schulte said the committee oversaw the early implementation of the plan. He also said he co-chaired the committee with Dr. Paula Potter, who currently serves as Interim MBA Program Director and as a professor of management in the Gordon Ford College of Business.
Schulte currently heads WKU’s Biology Department, a position he has held for 10 years. Following his stepping down as department head, Schulte said an internal search will be conducted to find a new department head.
