With the 2019-20 roster continuing to taking shape for the WKU basketball team, another domino fell for head coach Rick Stansbury on Thursday morning.

Forward Moustapha Diagne intends to graduate this summer and transfer to another school, WKU basketball confirmed Thursday.

Diagne will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next school, which will be the third stop in his college career. Diagne, ranked as the No. 58 player in the the Class of 2015 by ESPN, signed with Syracuse out of high school.

But Diagne never played for the Orange, instead spending the 2015-16 season at Northwest Florida State College before before declaring for the 2016 NBA draft. Diagne withdrew, but was forced to leave due to National Junior College Athletic Association rules that rule any early entrants immediately ineligible.

Diagne then came to WKU and sat during 2016-17, but he also battled eligibility issues early in his Hilltopper career. The forward only appeared in 20 games during 2017-18 after he wasn’t deemed eligible until January.

Diagne appeared in 33 games over two seasons for WKU, scoring 16 total points on 19% shooting and grabbing 49 rebounds in his time on the Hill. Diagne never played more than 15 minutes in a single game as a Hilltopper.

Only one day before Diagne’s name appeared in the transfer pool, the 6-foot-9-inch big man was nominated for the 2019 Give Back Team, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Wednesday. Diagne was among 63 players nominated for their outstanding community service off the court.

The honor was not the first Diagne had received for his community service, as the Rufisque, Senegal, native was announced as one of 14 recipients of the Air Force C-USA Winter Spirit of Service Award on April 10.

Despite a lack of playing time at WKU, Diagne’s community service efforts made him a leader for the Hilltoppers. During the last year, Diagne embarked on a cultural-exchange trip to Belize, donated school supplies, volunteered with area children, competed in wheelchair basketball and represented the program during area grade schools’ field trips to campus and Diddle Arena.
