In part with an upcoming album release, Grammy Award-winning rock band Cage the Elephant is set to stop by Mellow Matt’s Music & More to meet fans and sign autographs.

The band will be at Mellow Matt’s on Thursday, April 25, from 6 p.m. until around 8 p.m. in honor of its newest album, “Social Cues,” available April 19. The store is located at 1200 Smallhouse Road.

By preordering the album in store or by phone at Mellow Matt’s, store owner Matt Pfefferkorn said buyers will receive a wristband to meet the members of Cage the Elephant and have their album signed guaranteed. Preorders are available as a CD or vinyl record, priced at $11.99 and $22.99, respectively.

“As long as you do the preorder and have a wristband, you’re guaranteed to meet the band,” Pfefferkorn said.

Pfefferkorn added he’s excited for the store to host the band and provide an opportunity for locals to meet a hometown hero. He said Mellow Matt’s makes an effort to promote Bowling Green artistry whenever possible.

“We love doing stuff like this,” Pfefferkorn said. “When I opened the shop, we definitely wanted to make our footprint known as supporting local music.”

When Cage the Elephant released Grammy-winning album “Tell Me I’m Pretty” in 2015, Mellow Matt’s held a similar event. Pfefferkorn said he believes close to 500 people came to the store the day of the signing.

“It was huge,” Pfefferkorn said of the in-store signing Mellow Matt’s hosted in 2015. “This one we expect to be bigger.”

Pfefferkorn added he believes it’s special Cage the Elephant still serves the community that helped the band get its start.

“It’s cool for them to come back and want to keep it local and support the scene that they were a part of for so many years,” Pfefferkorn said.

Though people who don’t preorder the album are still welcome to come to the signing, Pfefferkorn said those who preorder will be treated first, and those who do not, depending on time constraints, may not be treated at all. He said over 60 preorders have been placed already from in-town buyers and buyers as far out as Lexington and Nashville.

Cage the Elephant, a band that started in Bowling Green, is scheduled to perform at various European locations and will co-headline a U.S. tour alongside American musician Beck this summer. The band will also make an appearance at Woodstock 2019, a New York music festival in commemoration of the 50-year anniversary of Woodstock, a generation-defining music showcase held in August 1969, on Aug. 18.
