President Timothy Caboni announced changes to summer working hours in an email to faculty and staff on Thursday, March 28.

Caboni stated in his email the new hours will go into effect for the upcoming summer term. 

The changes implemented included the addition of lengthened weekends for faculty and staff over the 14-week summer term. Caboni said the schedule will keep campus open 5 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Individual faculty and staff members can apply with their supervisors for the “University’s flex/compressed” workweek policy for either a Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday schedule.

Caboni said employee’s should select a schedule that “best supports both their personal needs and the needs of their office. 

Caboni said one benefit to the schedule change reduces the workweek from 35 hours to 34.   The email also included an attached schedule for faculty and staff holidays.

In addition to the changes in the summer holiday schedule, faculty and staff will also have an extended winter break during the 2019-2020 school year. Caboni said the WKU Human Services Department will provide more details about the new summer schedule. 

“I hope this summer’s 3-day weekends and this winter’s long break will provide you with extra time of relaxation and restoration,” Caboni said.
