WKU reported a four percent decrease in total enrollment, according to the Fall 2018 Enrollment Report provided by the Office of Institutional Research.

The total enrollment went from 20,267 in Fall 2017 to 19,461 in Fall 2018. Enrollment has continued to decline since its peak of 21,124 students in Fall 2012, according to the report.

The total number of international students attending WKU also dropped significantly with a decrease of 238 students from 2017, which accounts to a 28 percent change. Saudi Arabia, with 225 enrolled, still accounts for the largest percentage of international students. Students from China, India and Kuwait reported a decrease in enrollment while Oman reported an increase of five students from 2017. 

Along with a decrease in total international enrollment, WKU also saw a decrease in enrollment from first time, first-year students. The 173-student decrease accounted for a 5.6 percent decrease from 2017 to 2018. Full time, first year students’ average ACT score stayed at a 23, while the average GPA rose to a 3.39.

The cost for a full time, in-state student is $5,301 per semester, according to WKU Admissions.
