Four WKU players have been selected to All-Conference USA teams following the 2017 regular season, the conference announced Wednesday.
The Lady Toppers receiving honors are Alyssa Cavanaugh, Jessica Lucas and Rachel Anderson on the first team and Sydney Engle on the second team.
The four players combined for a total of 15 player of the week laurels over the 2017 season across all three categories of awards (excluding Freshman of the Week).
Cavanaugh, the defending C-USA Player of the Year, worked around a .388 hitting percentage on the season, leading all outside hitters in the country. The senior leads the conference with 4.04 kills per set and picked up three C-USA Offensive Player of the Week awards across the season.
Lucas leads all setters in the conference with a .366 hitting clip and 132 total kills while racking up 1,110 assists (10.99 per set). Lucas has also compiled a team-high eight double-doubles on the season and brought home six Setter of the Week awards.
Anderson is second in the league and 13th in the nation with a .421 hitting percentage and ranks seventh in the conference with 3.54 kills per set. Anderson also picked up a Defensive Player of the Week nod.
Engle earned a second team spot after managing a .344 hitting percentage, 205 kills (2.03 per set), 111 assists (1.10 per set), 19 service aces (0.19 per set), 245 digs (2.43 per set) and 66 blocks (0.65 per set) along with a pair of double-double outings.
Lucas and Cavanaugh have now landed on the first team in all four seasons of play. Engle has been named to the second-team squad three of her four seasons and Anderson has earned a pair of first-team honors in addition to an all-freshman team selection.
WKU and North Texas were the only two schools to land multiple players on the C-USA first team, each with three.
In addition, Lucas and Engle were also selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team on Tuesday, Lucas posting a 3.55 GPA (majoring in exercise science) and being named as a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award while Engle has posted a 3.81 GPA (majoring in business administration).
