President Gary Ransdell announced his support for the Bowling Green City Commission to adopt a fairness ordinance Friday during his President’s Convocation speech.

A fairness ordinance would make it illegal to discriminate against an individual because of their sexuality, especially in areas of employment. Attempts have been made to pass such legislation in Bowling Green, but have not been successful.

President Gary Ransdell said he wants WKU to be a place free of intolerance.

“Let’s ensure that WKU is a campus that embraces all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity,” Ransdell said in an online copy of his convocation speech.
