WKU first baseman Ryan Huck was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Huck led the Toppers to a sweep of rival Middle Tennessee State in their conference opener over the weekend.

Huck is the first WKU player to be presented with the award this season.

In three games against the Blue Raiders this past weekend, Huck went 6-for-8 with four home runs and seven RBIs.

With the performance, Huck became the first WKU player to hit four home runs in a three-game series since 2008.

Huck started the series off with two home runs Friday night, a two-run and three-run shot to drive in five of WKU’s six runs on the game and lead the team to a one-run victory. The game was WKU’s eighth one run game of the season, six of which they have lost.

WKU has won seven straight games with Huck in the lineup, as he missed the two mid-week games against Tennessee last week.

Entering Tuesday’s matchup with Kentucky, Huck had 11 hits and 11 RBIs in his last 15 at bats. Huck didn’t slow down a bit against the Wildcats either. Tuesday night against UK, Huck went 3-for-5 with three hits, one of which being a home run, and four RBI’s leading WKU to a 6-3 win over its in-state rival.

The third hit for Huck on Tuesday was his 150th career hit.

Huck also leads the team in average, home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage. He is also now one RBI away from 100 for his career and will look to reach the milestone Wednesday night in Bowling Green against Lipscomb. First pitch will be at 6 p.m.
