Opera theatre group to perform Broadway music
April 15, 2011
The WKU opera theatre program will be performing “Crossing Over: The Classical Singer Goes to Broadway” tonight and Saturday.
Wayne Pope, an assistant professor of music who teaches the opera theatre class, said the group often sings opera music, but this time, they’re crossing over to Broadway music.
“It’s a whole play of themes and songs from various musicals,” he said.
Pope said they will play a number of songs that should be interesting to people not familiar with music.
The program will feature songs such as “I Feel Pretty,” “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” and “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better.”
The event will be at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday in the Ivan Wilson fine arts center, and admission is free.
