This Saturday, WKU’s campus will be inhabited with more than just students and faculty.

The undead are going to stop by for a bit.

Bowling Green’s “Zombie Walk 2010” will start at 2:30 p.m. at the Centennial Mall, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Event coordinator John Madrigal said the night will mirror an “apocalyptic end to the city.”

Participants are encouraged to come to the event dressed in their undead attire, but some make-up and costumes will be available for people to borrow before the walk starts, he said.

The Bowling Green resident said he has always loved zombie movies, but his interest in the zombie walks started after he attended one in Louisville about three years ago.

“It was really wild,” Madrigal said. “People really do play the part.”

He said he would like to see the event become a WKU tradition.

Madrigal said he expects about 100 people to participate in the walk this Saturday.

But a set walking route has yet to be determined, he said.

“We’ll decide on a plan when we meet,” Madrigal said. “We’re going to go around campus and maybe downtown.”

He said that it should be fun for people to participate in.

“Act like you’re undead,” he said. “Have fun with it and play the role. Look the part and walk like you’re dead.”

Louisville freshman Tanner Redman said he plans to be in the walk this weekend.

He said he decided to participate after watching several videos of past walks on YouTube.

“They are super crazy,” Redman said. “I might get real into it and start feeding on the living.”

However, Madrigal said, that the living will be invited to the event.

“I really want photographers to come before, during and after,” he said. “There will great opportunities for photos.”

Madrigal said he also hopes to have a production crew there for the event.

“It should really get people pumped,” he said.

The event is free to the public, but Madrigal said donations will be accepted in support of RePets.

RePets is an animal rescue and adoption center in town.
