The Board of Commissioners passed nine municipal orders at its meeting tonight.

The commission also approved a more than $35,000 grant agreement between Bowling Green and the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet for the Federal Victims of Crime Act.

The grant will support victims of abuse, Commissioner Brian “Slim” Nash said.

He said that police should do more than protect. They should provide counseling and money to victims of crimes.

The grant is especially for children who have been victim of sexual and physical abuse, Nash said.

The commission also agreed to maintain

the sidewalks on Cumberland Trace Road which will be included in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet road widening project.

In the past board members have declined to accept this responsibility, Mayor Elaine Walker said.

“Since these are new and will provide a safe route for pedestrians, this makes a lot of sense,” she said.

The next board meeting was moved from Nov. 2 to Nov. 3 because of midterm elections.
