World: After being trapped underground for 69 days, 13 of 33 Chilean miners were rescued yesterday without any major problems. The remaining miners will be rescued today. (Yahoo! News)

Nation: On Tuesday, a federal judged ordered that the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy be lifted on lesbians and gays in the military. While President Barack Obama doesn’t support the policy in place, he said the Pentagon must conduct research on the effect the repeal would have. (USA Today)

State: Scotty, the first elephant born at the Lousiville Zoo died last May. Reports now show that he died from complications of colic. (Courier-Journal)
