Students win science awards

Eighteen Western students received awards at the Kentucky Academy of Science’s annual meeting on Nov. 6-8 at the Sloan Convention Center.

Faculty and students across the state attended the meeting, presenting research papers and posters. An undergraduate research competition was also held, honoring students in various scientific disciplines.

Western’s first-place winners were Kate Hertweck, a senior from Evansville, Ind.; Dawson Springs senior Eli Roberson; Hopkinsville senior Daniel Brame; Jonathan McGehee, a senior from Winslow, Ind.; Bowling Green senior David Logan; Bowling Green senior Brian Ham; Owensboro junior Robert Zimmerman; Bowling Green senior Earl Wood and Calhoun senior Benjamin Sandefur.
