Harbaugh inducted into Hall of Fame

Nine months after capturing Western’s first national championship in any sport, former football coach Jack Harbaugh was inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.

Harbaugh was one of eight honorees inducted last Thursday at the Executive West Hotel in Louisville.

Three months after the title game, Harbaugh resigned from his position. In May, he accepted a job as associate athletic director at Marquette. After coaching 14 seasons on the Hill, Harbaugh compiled a 91-68 record to rank second all-time in wins to Jimmy Feix.

Following the win over McNeese St. in the I-AA title game, Harbaugh was selected Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association.

After the program was near extinction 11 years ago, Harbaugh propelled Western football to seven straight winning seasons. Western earned four playoff berths in the last six seasons and two conference championships since 2000.
