DePaul transfer Jaylen Butz has committed to WKU, the program announced on Friday. The senior forward from Fort Wayne, Indiana previously spent three years with the Blue Demons, playing in 89 games and starting in 47. Butz has one year of eligibility remaining.

Butz did not see any action during the 2020-21 season, last appearing on the court against Xavier on March 11, 2020. He did not play for personal reasons, according to a DePaul team spokesman.

“We’re excited to have Jaylen join our program,” head coach Rick Stansbury said in a press release. “He brings some size and some versatility to our frontcourt, and he’s shown the ability to score the basketball in different ways against high-level competition.”

The six-foot-nine forward ranks third all-time in DePaul program history with a .589 field goal percentage (257-436). Butz averaged 7.1 points and 5.2 assists per game during his Blue Demon career and put up a career-best 24 points against Northwestern on Dec. 19, 2019. His junior season saw Butz average 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game across 31 starts.
