The English Club is hosting a week-long book sale in Cherry Hall, room 101, which began on Monday, Oct. 25 and will stay open until Friday, Oct. 29. The book sale will run between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

The sale is to raise money for the club. Traditionally, the book sale is only a few days long, but due to theCOVID-19 pandemic the club couldn’t host the sale last year and therefore has to make up for lost funding.

Seth Nevin, a senior studying philosophy and English literature, is the president of the English club. He helped organize, set up and host the book sale.

“Previously the English club has always done a book sale,” Nevin said. “Between professors retiring, moving offices or donations to the club, we usually have an excess of [books]; in turn, we pack them and move them to the Warren room to sell them at a discounted price.”

All of the paperback books are sold for 50 cents and all hardcover books are sold for $1. The club has traditionally always used these prices since the books are donated and these prices are affordable for the students. They are even selling a few donated CDs, DVDs, and posters. The English club is accepting both Venmo and cash for purchases. 

Felicity McDonald, a sophomore double major in creative writing and literature, is the social media coordinator for the English Club. 

“Our president, Seth, made a schedule poll,” McDonald said. “Everyone put in the poll what hours they could work. We’re trying to accommodate everyone and their class schedules.”

Brianna Hamilton, a junior English major with a creative writing concentration and a journalism writing minor, is the treasurer for the English Club. 

“We have a really huge variety, we have everything from literature anthologies, textbooks, Shakespeare, and cheesy romance books,” Hamilton said. “We kind of have something for everybody. The good part about the book sale is that it’s for everyone and it’s at an affordable price range.”
