Lorenzo Hernandez, a now-suspended member of WKU Football’s roster, was arrested on March 21 on charges of strangulation, 1st degree, assault, 4th degree and intimidating a participant in the legal process.

Lorenzo Hernandez has been and remains suspended indefinitely until further notice,” WKU Senior Associate Athletic Director Zach Greenwell said when approached for comment. Hernandez transferred to WKU from Monmouth University in January.

According to the police report obtained by the Herald, law enforcement was dispatched to 2766 Torridge Avenue to deal with an assault investigation, with the alleged victim stating that Hernandez, her boyfriend, strangled her.

According to the report, the alleged victim told law enforcement that Hernandez “choked her then took her phone from her so she could not communicate with law enforcement.” She was able to get her phone back when Hernandez “slipped in dog urine and the phone fell out of his hand.”

The report states that the alleged victim’s neck was starting to swell and she “had injuries to her neck consistent with a handprint/thumbprint”. The alleged victim stated that Hernandez “choked her until she stopped breathing” and that she “started to punch Hernandez during the altercation”.

According to the report, Hernandez was then taken to the Bowling Green Police Department and informed of his rights.

Hernandez told police, according to the report, that he woke up to the alleged victim punching him. Hernandez said he “blacked out and choked her”.

The report states that the alleged victim was taken to the Medical Center for treatment.
