The Department of Student Activities is hosting a donation drive for the Barren River Area Safe Space, Inc. for the entire month of October. 

BRASS creates opportunities for victims of domestic violence to have access to emergency shelter, crisis aid and educational programs. 

“Each month we have a ‘VIP’, which is ‘Volunteer in Progress’, so we reach out to different organizations within the community to see what they may need,” ShyAnte’e Williams, a student activities graduate student overseeing donations, said. 

Williams said the most needed donations are hair brushes, journals, adult coloring books, colored pencils, barrettes and hair accessories for all ages.

Students can bring their donations to Student Activities in room 2059 in Downing Student Union. 

“We really just wanted to reach out to this organization to see if there was any way we could help bring awareness to their cause or help where they may be falling short,” Williams said.
