WKU is paying $325,000 to Houston Christian University to come play the Hilltoppers in Bowling Green on Saturday.

These payments are a standard practice in college athletics called guarantee games. Schools will pay teams below their level to come play in hopes for a blowout, and a stadium full of happy fans.

While WKU is heavily favored to make their $325,000 count and defeat the Huskies this weekend, the Hilltoppers are expected to be on the losing end of a guarantee game next Saturday as they travel to Ohio Stadium to play the Ohio State Buckeyes.

However, even if the Buckeyes do take down the Hilltoppers, Ohio State is paying WKU 1.8 million for the game. Along with the nice chunk of change, the game against the Buckeyes will be broadcast nationally on Fox, allowing WKU to showcase their squad to the country.
