WKU Women’s Golf was victorious at the Jennifer Duke Invitational, taking first place by 34 shots. Junior Catie Craig claimed the individual title at 3-under for the entire tournament. The 54-hole tournament was hosted by the University of Cinncinati at Losantiville Country Club Sept. 11-12.
WKU led the field after the first two rounds on the first day.
Craig grabbed the lead early after bouncing back from her first round score of 3-over with a second round score of 3-under. Graduate student Sarah Arnold followed closely behind with a 72 and 69 to put her at 1-over.
Senior Addie Westbrook fired a 72 and 73 to put herself in contention for the top five.
After the final round, three Hilltoppers placed in the top five in the field, with the team finding their first win of the season.
Craig posted a strong 4-under score of 66 to secure her first place finish. Arnold met Craig on the podium with a 1-over, second place finish.
Westbrook concluded the tournament with another round of 72 and grabbed fifth place. Sophomore Sydney Hackett and sophomore Averi Cline tied for 13th place with cumulative three round scores of 222.
Senior Rachel Rich had her low score of the tournament with a 75. Additionally, sophomore Nina McMurtrey closed the tournament with a 76, having improved her score by nine strokes from the first 18 holes.
WKU will hit the road again Sept. 22-24 to compete in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
