WKU Volleyball Sweeps Sam Houston Twice in Weekend Matchup
Western Kentucky University swept the Sam Houston Bearkats Oct. 21 for the second straight night. The second matchup was held at Diddle Arena.
WKU now stands with a 20-4 regular season record and continues their 14 game winning streak.
The Hilltoppers came into the first set slowly as Sam Houston took the lead early. However, they picked up some speed as they ultimately claimed the set 25-21. The junior outside hitter Kaylee Cox stepped up with six kills.
Going into the second set, WKU’s pace was completely different as they obtained the lead early in the set. They kept it the entire set to win out 25-12 over Sam Houston.
The hitting percentage of the second set came out to be .407% with 14 total kills and only three errors.
The third and final set started off with two early errors from freshman middle hitter Gabby Weihe and redshirt sophomore setter Callie Bauer. Throughout, the set remained close but WKU managed to pull out the set to sweep the Bearkats again in their second matchup.
The Hilltoppers will look to remain undefeated in C-USA play against Louisiana Tech on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. CST on the road.
