First Half
The Lady Toppers came out firing, starting the game on a 16-4 run led by a team attack, with every member of the starting five scoring. They kept it up until the buzzer, leading 25-12 at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter was no different, with a balanced scoring attack led by graduate Destiny Salary with six points. The Hilltoppers outscored Mercer 20-14 in the quarter to head to halftime up 45-26.
Second Half
It took WKU two and a half minutes of game time to score in the second half, but it didn’t matter because of the defense, only giving up one bucket during that stretch. The Lady Toppers led 58-39 going into the fourth quarter.
WKU closed out the fourth quarter with a dominant showing, only giving up 15 points in the quarter. Five quick points from Alexis Mead to start the quarter ended it, and the Lady Toppers clinched it 78-54.
Up next for the Lady Toppers is a trip to Texas to take on Abilene Christian on Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
