After over a week without a game, 3-0 WKU Women’s Basketball will travel to Abilene, Texas Thursday, Nov. 21 as they look to continue their winning ways and take on the 2-3 Abilene Christian Wildcats.
The Lady Toppers come into their game tomorrow on a nine-day break.
“We have had the opportunity to get bangs and things healed up a little bit, we’ve taken the day off, we came back and practiced real hard yesterday and we are about to get back to it today, I think the girls mentally are in a good place,” Head Coach Greg Collins said when asked about the extended break.
WKU is led by five players averaging double figures in the early season with junior guard Acacia Hayes leading the team with 14.7 points per game. Hayes also leads the Lady Toppers in steals with 4.7 per game as well as rebounds with 5.7 per game. The defense of the Lady Toppers is forcing 26.3 turnovers per game, scoring 32.3 points off of turnovers.
The Wildcats of Abilene Christian will be led by the guard duo of senior Bella Earle and sophomore Payton Hull. Earle comes into the game against the Lady Toppers averaging 15.6 points per game, with Hull averaging 15 points a contest. Sophomore center Meredith Mayes, who is averaging seven rebounds a game, controls the glass.
WKU and Abilene Christian most recently faced off last season where the Lady Toppers came out victorious on their home court with a score of 72-68.
The game is set for 6 pm on ESPN+.
