DJ Kenley Shea hyped up the crowd for Saxsquatch with a DJ set of “genre-smush.” This led to a quick intermission before Saxsquatch began his set. Once on stage, he played a mix of jazz, pop and EDM music, including covers of songs such as “Hot to Go!” and “Chicken Dance.”
Saxsquatch used visual effects such as LED lights, lasers, bubbles and a smoke machine to set the electric mood. Throughout his set, he said, “Thank you for believing in me, I believe in you.”
Merch sales were through the roof with items such as vinyl, T-shirts, and bandanas. Almost all items were sold out by the end of the concert. The show had guests of all ages, from their late 20s to their 60s. People wore glowsticks, fairy wings and a fake bear hide throughout the show.
“It’s been an awesome event of love and purity,” Krystal Null, an attendee in a fairy outfit, said.
The Saxsquatch tour is just beginning. Over 30 more dates are booked, in places such as Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Buffalo, New York. Upcoming dates are listed on his Instagram @Saxsquatch.
