Bassey ties record with 10th Freshman of the Week Award

Freshman center Charles Bassey was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the 10th time this season after a double-double in a loss against Texas-San Antonio. The award moves Bassey into a tie for the most all-time with Marcus Evans of Rice.

Against UTSA, Bassey contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds to the effort, notching his 15th double-double this season, first place in C-USA. Bassey also added two blocks and a steal to his stat line.

The award is the second honor bestowed upon Bassey this week as he was also named to the list of five finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award.

Bassey and the Hilltoppers will be back in action on Thursday, taking on either Florida International or North Texas in the Conference USA tournament..
