Resident Mahki Zojie said she was in her room when she noticed the collision.

โ€œIt happened so fast you couldnโ€™t really comprehend what was happening,โ€ Zojie said.

Zojie said she saw the man hit by the van get out of the car and start yelling. Zojie said thatโ€™s when the car caught on fire.

โ€œYou could see smoke go up little by little,โ€ Zojie said. โ€œThe fire started near the window and started to grow.โ€

The collision caused traffic lights at the Old Morgantown Rd and University Dr. to go down, which โ€œwill take a little time to get it all back on,โ€ Ward tweeted.
