Kappa Delta is selling pinwheels to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America Monday and Tuesday.

Every year the sorority holds fundraisers to benefit PCAA and the local Family Enrichment Center, and the members said their pinwheel sale is an important part.

“A pinwheel is representing a child’s innocent and is the official symbol for Prevent Child Abuse America,” Louisville junior Janae Wellum said.

The sorority’s largest fundraiser is the event called “Shenanigans”, which Wellum described as “a Sadie Hawkins’ style dance competition”. This year sororities and fraternities will team up to represent the theme “When I Grow Up.”

Last year Shenanigan’s raised over $16,000 and sold over 1,000 pinwheels. “Our goal this year is to raise even more donation money,” Wellum said. “We will be putting the pinwheels in our front yard to give a clear representation of to show how big of a difference we make.”

The pinwheel sale took place Friday in DSU 10-2, and will continue Monday and Tuesday at Centennial Mall 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each pinwheel costs only $1. Shenanigans will be held Oct. 3 at the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center.
