Shammond Williams to join WKU basketball coaching staff

Former Tulane University Assistant Coach Shammond Williams has joined the WKU basketball coaching staff, according to WBKO. 

Williams played collegiate basketball for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for four years as he helped to lead UNC to NCAA Final Fours in 1995, 1997 and 1998. 

In his last season at UNC, Williams averaged 16.8 points and 4.2 assists per game. He was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Bulls in the 1998 NBA Draft.

Before becoming an assistant coach in collegiate basketball, Williams enjoyed a 14-year professional career which included time in the NBA and in Europe.

Williams joins previously-announced assistant Chris Cheeks and director of basketball operations Talvis Franklin and new Head Coach Rick Stansbury on the 2015-16 WKU basketball coaching staff.
